As part of its official launch, Didi Food offered free meals for up to 120 pesos on Wednesday, November 6.

The Didi mobility platform officially launched its Didi Food, food delivery service in Mexico City, a segment in which Uber Eats, Rappi, SinDelantal, Postmates, and Cornershop already compete.

This food delivery option, which also operates in Guadalajara and Monterrey, promises to offer the most accessible delivery option, with a shipping cost from 18 pesos.

In a press conference, Arturo Salcedo, national director of development of said business division, said that as part of this launch they will offer free meals for all users during this Wednesday, November 6 for up to 120 pesos.

In Mexico, DiDi Food already has operations in 32 cities. Similarly, it has a presence in seven countries, in more than 1,000 cities in total, with service to more than 550 million people.

“We are getting 30% of our users to be users, who have never asked for food from the app before and 40% of the restaurants on the platform join this new sales channel for the first time,” said Daniel Serra, CEO of DiDi Food in Mexico City.

The application has more than 80 varieties of cuisine, of which 90% offer at least one main dish below 100 pesos.

“In Mexico, food delivery has a penetration of 14%, unlike the United Kingdom and the United States, where the penetration is more than double,” added Serra.

On the other hand, 36% of users who order food through DiDi Food do it at work, so peak order times are Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
