New construction in Mexico records its biggest drop since 2007

This contraction occurs since the year in which the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) began to lift the National Survey of Construction Companies (Enec), according to El Financiero.

The value of the production generated by the construction presented an annual contraction of 10.22% during August based on seasonally adjusted figures, which represented its biggest drop since 2007.

This contraction occurs since the year in which the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) began to lift the National Survey of Construction Companies (Enec), according to El Financiero.

According to the Inegi, the value of production considers all construction work carried out by a company, in which the sale price and the physical progress of the works are taken into account.

The building presented a decrease of 6.56%, so this component has already spun a semester in red numbers.

Other subsectors that stepped on negative terrain during the eighth month of the year were those specialized in the construction of water, irrigation and sanitation projects (20.51%), electricity and telecommunications (8.06%), transportation and urbanization (10.39%) and other types of constructions (31.09%).
