The arrival of cruise ships in Baja California Sur will go from 13 vessels registered in the period prior to 57 cruise ships in the season
La Paz, Baja California Sur (BCS). In the cruise season that includes from October 2019 to March 2020, there will be the arrival of 57 cruises in positions of La Paz, Loreto and Santa Rosalia, 44 more ships in relation to the previous period, said the secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability (Setues), Luis Humberto Araiza López.
In this regard, the official recalled that in the past season they docked 13 vessels, which meant the arrival of 21,000 passengers, so on this occasion – with a 129% growth in ship arrival – more than 32,200 passengers could be reached.
This is excellent news for Baja California Sur, said Araiza López, as cruise passengers will leave an approximate economic spill of 57.9 million pesos, mainly benefiting the restaurant, transportation, and local commerce sector.
For its part, the owner of Setues pointed out that the arrival of cruise ships is due to the strengthening and promotion of the State, allowing visitors from different countries to have the opportunity to enjoy the beauties, gastronomy and tourist attractions of Baja California Sur.
“This exponential growth confirms that the global market recognizes our high tourism potential. We are by far one of the best destinations in the Mexican Pacific and the figures confirm it, ”he said.
Finally, Araiza López guaranteed that work will continue so that the trend continues to rise next year so that the benefits of the industry continue to reach South California families.
