Dengue mosquito fogging will cover 10,000 hectares in La Paz and Los Cabos

This year, 26 cases of dengue have been confirmed in Baja California Sur, a figure that is lower compared to more than 4,000 in the rest of the country, said the Secretary of Health

La Paz, Baja California Sur (BCS ). After several cycles of fogging against the dengue transmitter fly were announced, the Ministry of Health (SSA) in Baja California Sur pointed out that the work is planned to cover more than 10,000 hectares in the municipalities of La Paz and Los Cabos.

In this regard, the secretary in the field, Victor George Flores said that preventive work began in rural communities of La Paz and Los Cabos since last week, while this weekend, colonies of San José del Cabo were attended. 

“This Sunday was attended Vista Hermosa, Vista Hermosa expansion, La Ballena, Puerto Nuevo, Monte Bello, and Villas del Cortés, while this Monday will work in the Zacatal, Santa Rosa and Monte Real,” he said. 

Regarding the incidence of dengue in Baja California Sur, George Flores stressed that so far there are 26 confirmed cases, which contrast with other states where more than 4,000 are registered. 

He also emphasized his call to citizens to strengthen basic sanitation actions in homes to eliminate artificial nurseries from the mosquito. 

The above was announced in an extraordinary session of the State Council for Health Safety, which was attended by various authorities in the sector, who were informed about the actions undertaken. 

Finally, in the forum agreements were made to strengthen coordination between institutions, in the face of a natural contingency such as storms and hurricanes, to inhibit the presence of the yellow fever mosquito.
