Mazatlan will fine businesses and citizens who leave trash in the tourist areas

The cost will depend on the damage generated, how much garbage was left and with what recidivism was generated

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Raising awareness among visitors and businesses that leave trash in the tourist area is what Mazatlan tourist police officers are doing, to prevent more waste from being generated in these busy areas, however, businesses that relapse may be fined by the Directorate of Municipal Public Services.

This was reported by the director of the Tourist Assistance and Protection Center, Astrid Macías Fregoso, when she informed that CAPTA elements work in collaboration with ecology and municipal police to reduce the disordered rates of garbage in the port.

“We only join in what corresponds to us, which is the tourist strip, which is the entire boardwalk, historic center, the area of cerritos that many times on weekends is in critical conditions of contamination, so it is a multidisciplinary operation of RCU, all urban solid waste ”.

The official said that the fines will vary for the recurrence of those who have already been called attention to leave trash, and will also depend on how much they left and the damage they caused.

He added that there has already been a significant decline since these “calls for attention” to citizens and tourists began to be implemented, so it is expected that there will really be a positive impact for the port in the future.
