Sinaloa Government joins Mazatlan citizens in a massive beach clean up

Mazatlan, Sinaloa on September 21, 2019.- Within the framework of the International Beach Cleaning Day, more than 1500 Mazatlecos responded to the call of the State Government adding to a massive cleaning of the beaches, preventing a large amount of garbage It will reach the sea.


The Secretary of Sustainable Development, Carlos Gandarilla García, recognized the young people, businessmen, civil associations, the City Council of Mazatlan and government agencies that contributed their effort so that the beach area is free of garbage.


He stressed that the union of society and government is essential to raise awareness of the importance of preserving our coastal ecosystems, said that for Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel, the conservation of the state’s natural resources is a high priority.

“This day Mazatlan makes history and sets the example for more and more people to be involved in the care of our beaches,” he said.


The secretary of Tourism, Óscar Pérez Barros, said that the Mazatlecos show once again that when they get involved in something, they do it big.


During the cleaning day that took place over 5 kilometers, the collection of 200 kilos of palisade, 1210 kilos of general garbage, 5353 butts and 155 plastic covers was achieved, as reported by Lance Viett, president of the board of directors of the Operator and Administrator of Beaches of Mazatlan.
