Tourist in Mazatlan is stranded on Isla Venados; needed to be rescued by lifeguards

Mazatlan.- A Canadian tourist who was stranded on Isla del Venado was rescued by elements of the Aquatic Rescue Squadron, of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat.

The report that a person was requesting support to return to the city, reached the emergency authorities C4, at 7:50 p.m. on Thursday.


The Information reported establishes that a person was on the Island del Venado, alone and unable to return due to the strong swell and wind that appeared this afternoon.


ESA elements searched Isla Venados and found her who was identified as Nina “N”, 38 years old and originally from Canada, who mentioned that a water sports worker took her to the Island in a kayak and left her to her own luck around 6:00 p.m.

After the weather conditions prevented her from entering the sea to return, the tourist requested help, and aboard a water motorcycle, she was saved by Mazatlan Aquatic Rescue Squadron and transferred back to the mainland.


The SSPM reiterates its unconditional support to the citizens that require it and for that purpose it urges to launch any request for help in a timely manner and to the 9-1-1 emergency telephone or the Mazatlan APP application alert button.
