Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- The mayor of Mazatlan, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres announced that 800,000 pesos were spent on the popular festival that took place last Sunday, September 15, on the occasion of the Grito de Independencia celebration.

Benítez Torres said that practically the same was spent on feeding 5,000 people, than on making dinner for only 200 guests.

“With what they spent before with a group of 200, we fed 5 thousand; those are the differences (…) It is worth redistributing the wealth of the city and that’s why people were happy, ”he said.

The ‘Chemist’ Benitez said that people were very happy thanks to the food that was given to them.

“We are happy for everything that happened these days, during the ceremony because we had never seen people so happy, I had never seen it. I walked like any citizen all night and in my life, not even at Carnival, I had seen people so happy, ”he said.

“They were very comfortable because at the end of the day that was what it was: to make food for everyone and well eaten, surely many of you were touched,” he added.
