Between 60 and 70 percent of condo towers lend themselves to vacation rentals

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Although the Tourist Assistance and Protection Center, Capta, denied it, during the summer holiday period there were frauds regarding the rentals of condominiums, said Luis Enrique Peraza Reyes, president of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals AMPI.

“Currently there are frauds: in this holiday period, of the seven condominiums that we have managed, we notice 25 percent, more or less, of holiday frauds, where people arrived with their suitcases saying they were going to the apartment ‘x’ and that apartment did not exist, ”he said.

The representative of the real estate agents pointed out that between 60 and 70 percent of the condominiums in the destination are provided for this type of services. However, he said he did not know the exact number of rooms available under this scheme.

Peraza Reyes said he was aware of people who had to sleep in his car because they did not bring enough money to pay for a hotel room.

Therefore, he recommended that citizens approach a Mazatlan professional real estate advisor before making a reservation on the web or social media, as many of them are not regulated.
