Mexican actress Yalitza Aparicio will be the official image of Los Cabos International Film Festival that will take place from November 13th to the 17th in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.

Mexican actress, Yalitza Aparicio, who acted in Alfonso Cuarón´s film Roma will be the official image of the 2019 edition of the International Los Cabos film festival, which will take place from the 13th to the 17th of November, with her participation, organizers aim to acknowledge the impact of women in the so called seventh art and the film industry.

“In the beginning we (women) were there already, not only in front of the Lumiere brothers’ camera, but also behind the camera, directing, such as the great Alice Guy in 1896 became the first director. When and why were we denied the right to tell stories?” said Aparicio, an Oscar nominee for best actress for her role in Roma of Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón.

She intends to remark the impact that women have had in the film industry history, inviting audiences to make a reflection and remembering some female voices that have been heard and felt within the film industry.  “It is an industry where women´s voices have been minimized, I am thrilled that we are ever growing and looking to make changes, more women behind the camera, new actresses breaking reference frames, writing movie screenplays with inclusive stories and women who don´t have to stop making movies because they have to give birth. A film industry that embraces diversity and acknowledges our contribution. Wonderful Women” she said.
