The middle season attracts cities with historical wealth
Usually, the most popular destinations for vacations are busiest during summer or winter, and usually include beaches. Similarly, Beatenberg, Switzerland with a 312% increase and Obertraun, Austria with 323% in reservations this fall, provides the perfect place for nature lovers and families.
Big events attract global travelers
More and more travelers – both participants and spectators – use Airbnb when they travel to large events to feel at home, and see the places they visit through the eyes of the locals. Beppu and Ōita in Ōita Prefecture of Japan are host cities in trend for the next rugby world championships. Both players and fans can also enjoy the famous hot springs in the area between games.
Travelers are also going to lesser-known places to experience annual events such as Oktoberfest. Halle, Germany had a 248% increase in reserves compared to last year, offering a premium alternative to the popular Munich.
The top destination of this fall trend is Regina, Canada in Saskatchewan, with a 328% increase in its reserves, for the fifth annual NHL outdoor game in the regular season.
Fall foliage trends in North America
