Rigoberta Menchú, Nobel Peace Prize winner, will lecture in Mazatlan

The Guatemalan will also receive two distinctions from the municipal government; the keys to the city and recognition as ‘Distinguished Guest’

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Being an indigenous woman with an impressive life experience, who knew how to get ahead of adversities, for the Unitary Agrarian Court it is honorable to present the participation through a keynote conference within the forum “Empowerment of Rural Women” to Rigoberta Menchu, Peace Prize 1992.

María del Mar Salfranca Peraza, agrarian magistrate in Mazatlan announced the details of the event, which will be based at the Angela Peralta Theater, where the Guatemalan lecturer, Rigoberta Menchú, will teach, where she will also receive the keys to the city and will be distinguished by the Mayor as ‘Distinguished Guest’.

“In view of her own history, I think we all know her, she is an indigenous woman, she is a rural woman, who has an impressive, hard life experience, a total human rights fighter.”

The next day at the Convention Center work tables will be held where the participation of academics, law students, magistrates, local and federal officials will be included, who will discuss issues of Gender Perspective, The Challenges of Equality before the Litigant, The Challenges of the Legislative Power around these sectors, Women, Law and Justice and Man as a Key Factor for the Empowerment of Women.
