From October 10 to 17, the 32nd edition of the Pan American Race will be held, which, according to the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, will have an influx of one million 11 thousand tourists and an economic benefit of 47 million pesos.

During the press conference on its announcement, Torruco Marqués added that with this sports show 330 direct jobs and 2,750 indirect jobs will be generated, 10 percent more than in 2018.

Accompanied by the director of the Pan American Race, Carlos Cordero; the honorary president of the event, Eduardo León; and for the champion of this competition last year, Emilio Velázquez, the head of Sectur stressed that the number of spectators will grow by 15 percent, since last year it was 879 thousand, while the spill will also increase by 14.6 per hundred, because the previous one added 41 million pesos.

Torruco also informed that the Tourist Services Corporation “Green Angels”, belonging to the Sectur, will support 46 elements and 23 vehicles to provide road and mechanical assistance to participants and the general public.

The official said that this year around 80 teams of more than 15 nationalities will take part in the Pan American Race, which for seven days will cover more than 3 thousand kilometers, starting in the city of Oaxaca, to continue through Veracruz, Mexico City, Querétaro , Michoacán, Guanajuato and Zacatecas, to finally reach the finish line in Durango, thus projecting Mexico as a top-level tourist and cultural destination. He also explained that this, which is the first automobile competition born in our country, emerged in 1950 to celebrate the inauguration of the Pan-American Highway, which covered from Ciudad Juárez, in the state of Chihuahua, to El Ocotal, in Chiapas.

The first editions took place between 1950 and 1954, becoming since then the rally-type automobile event of classic cars on the road with the longest route in the world. For security reasons, the federal government suspended the race in 1955, to return in 1988, in what is considered its modern stage. During the 2018 Tianguis Turístico in Mazatlan, he was awarded an honorable mention for his contribution to the diversification of the Mexican tourism product, in the category of Sports Tourism.

More than a thousand pilots and co-pilots from 35 countries have confirmed their attendance at the sixth edition of the Mayan Rally Mexico (RMM), which will be held from May 17 to 26 in the Yucatan Peninsula, with the start in Uxmal and the final goal in the capital of Quintana Roo: Chetumal.

Among the legendary vehicles that will participate in the RMM and that have been manufactured until 1979, 43 brands, sophisticated mechanical expressions such as Rolls Royce, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Packard, MG, Alfa Romeo, Oldsmodile, Jaguar, Cadillac will be enjoyed , Austin Healy, Pontiac, Renault, Dodge, Plymouth, Buick, Lincoln, Chevrolet, VW and the automotive jewel with the Ford A and T models. Cars according to the year of manufacture are registered in four categories: from 1900 to 1931; 1932 to 1949; 1950 to 1964; and from 1965 to 1975.

With 52 attractions contemplated in the new route, which will cover 1,200 kilometers, which will begin in Yucatan to conclude in Quintana Roo, the Mayan Rally Mexico in its five editions toured 180 towns, 19 archaeological sites, seven museums, 15 beaches and about 6 1,200 km, with a zero accident mark due to the invaluable support of the green Angels and of course the Federal, State and Municipal police, ”said Benjamín de la Peña Mora.
