National airlines will seek to increase air connectivity in the southeast of the country and countries of Central America that formed the Mayan World, said Thursday Katyna de la Vega, secretary of Tourism of Chiapas.

In a press conference, he explained that Aerocalafia, Aeromar and Interjet have approached the government of the entity to manage air routes in the southeastern Mexican states, mainly with Campeche, Yucatán and Quintana Roo.

De la Vega said that the approach with the companies was intensified by the announcement to expand the Tuxtla Gutierrez airport from four to eight boarding positions.

On the Mayan Train, the official ruled out any concern on the part of the state government about possible actions of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation to prevent the construction of the work.

He considered that the pertinent indigenous consultations will be carried out so that the project, one of the largest of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, is not hindered
