MEXICO: VERY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS IN THE SOUTH AND INTENSE RAIN IN THE WEST OF THE COUNTRY

For today,  tropical wave No. 16 will travel south and west of the country. On the other hand, a low-pressure channel to the west of the Yucatan Peninsula in combination with the tropical wave No. 17  that will travel slowly south-east of the national territory, will originate the potential of heavy showers and heavy rains over both regions. Finally, three channels of low pressure,  one on the Sea of ​​Cortez, another on the table of the north and the central table, and a third in the northeast of the territory, will generate potential for heavy showers and punctual rains accompanied by electrical activity and possible hail over the regions mentioned.

The aforementioned systems will generate the following rain potential:

Prediction of precipitation for today July 15, 2019:

Very strong to punctual rains (75 to 150 liters per square meter) : Sinaloa, Nayarit, and Jalisco.

Heavy to very strong seasonal rains (50 to 75 liters per square meter) : Durango, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Colima, Michoacán, Guerrero and Oaxaca.

Intervals of showers with heavy rains (25 to 50 liters per square meter) : Nuevo León, Aguascalientes, Querétaro, Puebla, Veracruz and Chiapas.

Intervals of showers (5.1 to 25 liters per square meter) : Baja California Sur, Sonora, Chihuahua, Coahuila, San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Morelos, State of Mexico, Mexico City, Tamaulipas, Campeche and Yucatan.

Isolated rains (0.1 to 5.0 liters per square meter) : Tabasco and Quintana Roo.

The rainy areas will be accompanied by electric shocks, wind gusts, hail fall and possible landslides in mountainous areas.
