In just one week, children were identified working at traffic lights, selling roses and others, which were identified as coming from Chiapas and Veracruz, DIF Mazatlan reported.

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Child labor in Mazatlan is present in the summer season, because, in just one week, eight children were reported working in unfavorable conditions such as selling flowers, working in traffic lights and so on, reported the president of DIF Mazatlán. Gabriela Peña Chico

“Yesterday we had a report this week that has been more intense tourism and we had eight verified cases of children who are not from here, are from Chiapas and Veracruz, are those reports. The first reports were already filed and we hope that they will not re-offend again, “he said.

With these eight cases, there are now 57 in total of children working so far this year, who in the first instance have an administrative record of their parents, and in case of reoffending, they enter into a judicial process.

“They are integrated into the 49 that they already had. They have a record, they are asked their identity, they have to verify that they are the parents of the minor, if they relapse they enter a judicial process, we do a job where the child already has to be in custody so that the child can receive the love of a fixed home, and not bring it with this climate in inappropriate conditions, “he said.

For its part, the president of the State DIF System, Rosy Fuentes de Ordaz, invited the public to denounce these facts of children working to be able to act immediately.

“We will continue working, identifying children who are in the streets and attending called citizens who see that there is a child in the street for us to go to see the situation of that child. We serve all. Each municipality has a census, we serve the calls that the citizens let us know but there is no specific number, “she emphasized.
