In the beginning, President Obrador had denied this news

Despite the fact that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador had denied that Cuban doctors will occupy the places of the dismissed Mexican doctors in various hospitals in the country, the Cubanet portal announced that the federal government has signed a health cooperation agreement with the Cuban government.

The signing of this agreement occurred on June 29, at the meeting was Lázaro Cárdenas Batel, chief of advisors of the Presidency, as well as José Ángel Portal Miranda, Minister of Public Health of Cuba, this alliance includes collaboration between the two countries in topics such as science, health, and medical personnel.

According to information from the government of Morelos, the first Cuban doctors will arrive in our country in the month of September; the mayor of Cuautla said that “we are foreseeing that it will be at the end of September so that they can adapt to the idiosyncrasy and local culture. We are going to generate these exchanges, to revive these twinnings and that they have a benefit for the local population, with a vision in the medium and long term ».

Recall that the 315 Urban Medical Units (UMU) that were installed in 18 states of the republic and that belonged to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) were closed, thanks to the disappearance of the Prospera program.

In addition, the general secretary of the Federation of Trade Unions of State Workers (FSTSE) Joel Ayala had already confirmed the dismissal of more than 10 thousand workers in the health sector.

Six thousand Cuban doctors will replace Mexican doctors as of September

Since last December, according to sources close to Cárdenas Batel, Cubanet announced that the arrival of Cuban doctors to Mexico was imminent, at the same time that the cancellation of the Mais Médicos program in Brazil was announced.

However, the press office of the Cuban embassy in Mexico said that this agreement is fake news, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) said it has no information to corroborate or deny the signing of this agreement.
