Hoteliers, restaurateurs, and merchants ask that states not modify the school calendar

Mazatlan, Sinaloa. – The turisteros and retailers see positive the announcement of three new long weekends for the 2019-2020 school year, made by the Secretary of Public Education, Esteban Moctezuma Barragán, and the head of the Sectur, Miguel Torruco, since it will favor the economy.

However, they are concerned – and they would see it as a “tache” – if the states make modifications since this would affect the tourism sector, and consequently, the other activities.

The calendar presented by the federal government highlights three bridges that are from Friday, September 13 to Monday, September 16, 2019; and in 2020, from Thursday 30 April to Tuesday 5 May, and the last one from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 May.

The school calendar for the next cycle as presented by the SEP is good, the problem would be given by the federal government to authorize each state to make changes, said José Gámez Valle, marketing director of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies of Mazatlan (AHyET) .

To obtain benefits in the tourist industry, it is necessary that the three bridges remain throughout the Mexican territory.

The president of the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Services of Mazatlan (Canaco Servitur), Jesus Sandoval Gaxiola, says so far, the information they have on the calendar is favorable to the tourism and trade sector. However, he is concerned that it does not occur throughout the country.

It calls on the governors of the entities, especially Sinaloa, to remain unchanged and favor the economy of the productive sectors, as this benefits families.

The restauranteur sector also considers that there will be benefits and coincides with Sandoval Gaxiola and Gamez that Mazatlan has had good weekends. They hope that destiny is maintained.
