The coastal municipalities of Sinaloa are moving towards certification of their beaches, for which they received training from the Mexican Institute for Standardization and Certification AC to know in detail the guidelines and sustainability measures that should be applied.

The Secretary of Sustainable Development, Carlos Gandarilla García, pointed out that Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel’s vision is to position Sinaloa as a national leader in Playas Limpias “we need to develop more sustainable practices to protect the ecosystems on the beaches and that this also leads to potential benefits for society and for tourism “.

He indicated that among the benefits of having stretches of beach under the standard NMX-AA-120-SCFI-2016 is the increase in the uptake of tourism, substantial improvement of the image and competitiveness of the tourist destination, raising standards in the zone and the surplus value of the destination, the protection of the environment and the conservation of species of flora and fauna, identification of control and environmental risks, among others.

Gandarilla García exhorted the representatives of the ecology and environment directorates of Ahome, Guasave, Navolato, Culiacan, Elota, Angostura and Mazatlan to work in the Playa Limpia Sinaloa program to achieve the sustainable development of the Sinaloan coast and preserve these natural riches for future generations.

Luis Eduardo Alarcón Núñez, manager of Management Systems of the Mexican Institute for Standardization and Certification AC, said that as an entity that audits and certifies the beaches, they are fully willing to collaborate with the coastal municipalities of Sinaloa to obtain this important distinction.

He explained that Mexico is located in the 13th place in the world for its coastal length, which covers more than 11 thousand kilometers and that Sinaloa has the longest certified stretch at the national level, which corresponds to 6 kilometers of beach in the Verde Camacho. , Mazatlan.

It should be noted that the Secretary of Sustainable Development, Carlos Gandarilla García, signed a collaboration agreement with the Mexican Institute for Standardization AC to advance the certification of the beaches of Sinaloa.
