June records the best hotel occupancy in Mazatlan in the last five years
Mazatlan, Sin. – In June, Mazatlan recorded the best tourist attraction of the last five years; assured José Gámez Valle.
The member of the Marketing Committee of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies of Mazatlan revealed that last month the destination closed with an occupation of 80%, with more than one million tourists.
“Throughout the month, we had many groups, cheerleaders, athletes, congresses, conventions, and last weekend was impressive, we had a full house at the end of June,” he said.
He commented that for this month where they already started the summer vacation, reservations are still slow, compared to the previous year, however, they hope that they will rebound as of this week, since they are taking place at the last moment.
Gámez Valle said that in August the market is very sensitive to the tariff in June, it is known that the rates are more accessible, and it is reserved a lot from August 15, once the holidays are over.
Po another part, said that some hotels in the north continue to suffer from the water supply, and continue with the purchase of water trucks, ranging from 800 and 1,200 pesos each, which increases the cost of operation.
The problem is, but to a lesser degree, especially in the lodging centers of the northern part of the city; Mazatlan has a lot of water and is looking for what is the problem that is obstructing the supply.
He warned that if the heat continues to increase in Mazatlan, the issue will be complicated in the distribution, which generates strong problems that they had not had for eight years in the hotel industry.
