Air Canada Rouge, a subsidiary of the Canadian flag carrier, will be arriving in Cancun from Quebec on December 21 of this year. The airline will have a weekly frequency to the destination on Saturdays, operated by an Airbus 321-200 with capacity for 200 passengers.

With this four and a half hour flight that will be valid until April 21, 2020, Air Canada adds another Canadian destination to the seven that currently connects the airline with Mexico.

“The opening of this route aims to strengthen the cultural, tourist and business exchange between the French-speaking province and the city of Cancun, which together with the Riviera Maya, is one of the main destinations chosen by Canadians in the country, especially during the winter season and part of spring, contemplating a period of important dates ranging from Christmas to the spring break and Easter 2020, “said Luis Noriega, director of Air Canada for Mexico, Central America and Cuba. .

According to figures of statistics, during the first quarter of 2019, more than 82 thousand Mexicans have traveled to the North American country, while in 2018 the figure rose to 413 thousand, a fact that demonstrates the need to expand the routes and supply of destinations between both countries. , in addition to the trend presented by the Cancun Airport, being the one that receives the most foreign visitors in the country, according to figures from the Ministry of Tourism.

“Launching this seasonal route means a great opportunity for us to meet the demand for new options for Mexican and Canadian tourists, who will be able to enjoy important end of the year and spring festivities in a different country. In addition, note that Quebec becomes the eighth option to travel from Mexico with Air Canada, strengthening our presence and reaffirming our confidence in the country, “said Noriega.

This route is added to the flights that the airline keeps to Mexico City, Puerto Vallarta, Huatulco, Cozumel, San Jose del Cabo, Zihuatanejo to the main Canadian cities of Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax.

For the fifth consecutive year, Air Canada Rouge, a subsidiary of Air Canada, makes available to its passengers the seasonal route Mexico-Montreal, which will be operating in summer and part of the fall.

The seasonal flight that will reach operations every day of the week in the summer in airplanes Airbus 319-100, with capacity for 136 passengers, will start operating on May 1 for five months until October 25.

This route will continue increasing the exponential increase of Mexican visitors to Canada, since according to Statistics Canada figures, during 2018, more than 413 thousand Mexicans visited the country of the maple leaf, representing an increase of 5.1 percent with respect to 2017.
