105 Honduran migrants, were returned to their country of origin by the National Migration Institute of Mexico.

According to the institute, Hondurans had an irregular migratory status in Mexico.

The migrants left this Thursday from Villahermosa, Tabasco, to the coastal city of San Pedro Sula in northern Honduras.

Many migrants begin their journey in Central America and even further south, passing through Mexico on their way to the United States . For this reason, Mexico deployed some 6,500 members of the National Guard on its southern border, on the border with Guatemala, to help curb migration flows. On the northern border, the Mexican government deployed 15,000 National Guard troops.

The deployments take place after the renewed pressure of the administration of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, on Mexico to help curb the passage of immigrants to the north. The Latin American country has also asked the United Nations and the United States to help with the monumental task.

At the beginning of June, at least 100 Honduran migrants were returned to their country of origin.
