“At Volaris, we focus on the need to provide direct flight options to our customers with the best rates and on routes that are strategically important from an economic and social perspective,” Volaris chief commercial officer Carolyn Prowse said in a statement.

Since launching in March 2006, Volaris has increased its routes from five to more than 196 and its fleet from four to 78 aircraft. It connects 40 cities in Mexico with 25 cities in the U.S. and Central America.

Its passenger traffic grew 28% in the last year, serving 1.9 million people in May.
