ATHLETES OF JALISCO AND QUERETARO WIN TRIATHLON IN MAZATLAN

More than 100 triathletes from Coahuila, Queretaro, Sonora, Sinaloa, Durango, Guanajuato, and Jalisco meet at the second event organized jointly by the Municipal Sports Institute of Mazatlan and the Municipal Triathlon Committee

Mazatlan._ Abraham González Romero from Jalisco was the absolute winner in the Men’s Elite category of the Imdem Olas Altas Triathlon with a time of 57 minutes and 24 seconds. 
While Carolina Rodríguez Robles of Queretaro, who stopped the clock in 1:18:50, reigned in the women’s wing.

After an emotional message from the director of the Imdem, Humberto Álvarez Osuna, this Sunday there was a special day in Mazatlan.

At an early hour of the day the athletes started warming up, to declare themselves ready to develop the second triathlon organized by the Municipal Sports Institute of Mazatlan and the Municipal Triathlon Committee so far this year, an event expected by the level of the athletes participants.

The competition started in the Olas Altas beach area, extended to Paseo Claussen towards the “Bichis Monkeys” and ended in front of the Venadito Monument, after having passed through the Sinaloa Shield.

More than a hundred triathletes from Coahuila, Queretaro, Sonora, Sinaloa, Durango, Guanajuato and Jalisco participated in the event coordinated by the Municipal Sports Institute of Mazatlan and the Municipal Triathlon Committee.

The triathlon consisted of distance sprint, which includes 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and 5 thousand meters of pedestrian race; while in the distance Novatos 400 meters of swimming, 10 kilometers of cycling and 2 thousand 500 meters of race. In addition to running the categories by ages.

The second place in the men’s Elite category corresponded to Javier Antonio de la Peña, after clocking 57:45 minutes on his route, while the third place of the podium was reached by Joaquín Pereda Charles, from Durango, with 58:13 minutes on the clock.

The podium in the ladies was completed by Paola Castañeda Reyes, from the Ohana team, after establishing a mark of 1:13:45 hours, and Fatima Alanis Miñarro, from Durango, with a set time of 1 hour with 14 minutes and a second.

The third Imdem triathlon would be organized in October or November in conjunction with the Municipal Committee of the specialty.

The organization of the competition was up to the task, so Fabiola Verde Rosas, coordinator of Leagues and Clubs of the Municipal Sports Institute of Mazatlan, presented the cash prize to the winners of the Elite category of the event and medals to the rest of the participants, making the ceremonial event a sports party.
