To travel by bus in Mexico you will now have to present an official ID and or Visa

The provision was requested by the Federal Government in order to stop the Central American illegal migration

As of that week, people who intend to travel by bus must present some official identification at the ticket offices of passenger bus companies.

This provision was requested by the Federal Government in order to stop the flow of Central Americans in our country. Now passengers will have to check their legal stay in the country through a visa, voter card, military card, passport or professional card or otherwise they will be denied service.

The above was published by the Autobuses de Oriente company through its social networks to avoid inconveniences with its customers and face legal problems.

And it is that according to the National Institute of Migration, the companies that incur the transfer of undocumented migrants in national territory would be making creditors to an economic sanction and even criminal of up to 16 years of prison.

It should be noted that the measure has caused conflicting opinions because on the one hand there are those who consider that this provision is in violation of Article 11 of the Constitution that refers to Free Transit, while others described it as positive since it would also provide greater security to users.

The measure is part of the negotiations that Mexico and the neighboring country of the north agreed to stop the passage of Central American migrants in search of better opportunities in the USA.

It should be noted that there was evidence showing mostly undocumented passenger buses, which cross without further control through the Mexican territory to the US border.

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, president of Mexico, asks Mexicans for support and understanding in order to comply with the agreement, however, he also clarified that this measure will only be for the purchase of long-distance tickets.
