Mazatlan, Sin . For the summer holiday season, the Ministry of Tourism estimated an average hotel occupancy of 85% in all destinations in the state, including the four Magic Towns: Cosalá, Rosario, El Fuerte, and Mocorito.
The head of the agency, Óscar Pérez Barros, explained that along with the influx of visitors, the expectation is to have an increase of 7 to 10% in the economic flow, with an approximate of 4,500 million pesos.
“We are expecting many positive surprises, hopefully, more, but in a moderate calculation we believe that the average occupation will be 85% for the entire state, although there will be weekends in Mazatlan that will be 100%,” he said.
Pérez Barros explained that in the case of Mazatlán, the average occupation will be 90%, against 86% of the previous period, with weekends of 95% and an economic income of more than 4 billion pesos.
He added that in this period, the bulk of visitors is national tourism, which is why efforts continue to increase air connectivity, in order to encourage the arrival of international travelers.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, in the summer of 2018 974,530 tourists arrived at the different destinations in the state, which represented 38.3% more, compared to the same period in 2017, with 704 thousand 482 tourists.
The economic income of 4 thousand 188 million pesos in the state, this is 10.6% more than last year, where 3 thousand 785 million pesos were reported. The four Magic Towns had an influx of 56 thousand 872 visitors, with an economic income of more than 85 million pesos.
