The measure taken by the Tenth Collegiate Court on Administrative Matters of the First Circuit orders to stop the construction of the Santa Lucia International Airport until it is feasible to verify that the work has security studies in the Airports Law and its Regulations; in addition, that the works of the NAIM be maintained without being destroyed until they are thoroughly revised.

A Collegiate Circuit Court ordered a new provisional suspension of the construction of the airport in Santa Lucía , forcing the federal government to conserve the works carried out at the New Mexico International Airport ( NAIM) that was being built in Texcoco.

This new court order was obtained on the occasion of the 147 amparo lawsuits that the collective # NoMásDerroches has presented in order for the Judicial Branch of the Federation to review the legality of the cancellation of the NAIM and to ensure that the Santa María International Airport project Lucía has all the necessary opinions and permits, informed the Mexican organization Against Corruption and Impunity (MCCI).

Just Monday of this week, the General Director of the Lago de Texcoco Ecological Park of the National Water Commission, announced that the foundation slab of the NAIM will be flooded in order to develop the so-called project, so that the destruction of the advances of said project is imminent.

The collective # NoMásDerroches, made up of Causa en Común, Mexican Commission of Human Rights, AC (COMEXDH), Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex), General Council of the Mexican Lawyers, Mexicans against Corruption and Impunity (MCCI) and Mexico United Against Crime (MUCD), among other organizations, and several law firms and hundreds of citizens, proposed that the Judicial Branch of the Federation order the authorities to take the necessary measures to preserve the progress that the works of the NAIM currently have. in Texcoco until these are finally resolved.

The measure taken by the Tenth Collegiate Court on Administrative Matters of the First Circuit orders the construction of the Santa Lucia International Airport to be halted until it is feasible to verify that the work has safety studies leading to those referred to by the Airports Law and its Regulation. In addition, it orders that the works of the NAIM be maintained without being destroyed until a Judge of the District thoroughly reviews all the evidence in the file.

This is the fourth judicial resolution that obtains # NoMásDerroches in this issue. Three of them oblige the authorities to halt the construction of Santa Lucía until they have environmental permits from the competent authorities.

The most recent one requires, on the one hand, to preserve progress at the Texcoco Airport and, on the other, to stop construction in the absence of safety studies, MCCI said in a statement.

“With this decision, the Judicial Branch of the Federation, once again, demonstrates to the citizens that it is a real counterweight to hasty and unjustified decisions of the Executive Power and generates a new and important precedent,” highlighted the organizations that makeup # NoMásDerroches.
