Starting in June, your posts on social networks such as Facebook or Twitter will be a factor to consider in order to obtain a US visa. This new requirement that affects several countries, including Mexico, will be implemented to have greater control over foreigners arriving in the United States, according to the BBC.

This month, the forms to request a visa will begin to request user data from all social networks.
Will it affect Mexicans?
Yes, Mexicans who want to apply for a US visa must provide their social networks, regardless of whether they travel as tourists, students or for business.
The process is very simple, we explain it step by step
The first step to apply for a US visa is to fill out form DS-160, which is used to obtain all the necessary information about you: origin, studies, residence, work history and reason for your trip, for example. This form is completed online, and takes about an hour and a half.
With the new requirement, the DS-160 form will include a question about the social networks you use. The main international platforms will be listed, such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. There will also be an option for you to signal other platforms that you use.
In addition, you must provide email addresses and phone numbers that you have had during the last five years.
The only changes that you will perceive as an applicant will be in form DS-160. Your social networks will be available for review and will be another instrument to obtain information about you and determine whether or not you can travel to the United States.
The next step is to request an appointment at the Applicant Assistance Center (CAS) to deliver documentation (the form, passport, etc.) and to take fingerprints. Later, they will inform you if you need to go to the Embassy for a face-to-face interview, or simply wait for them to inform you about the status of your visa.
