The car in which the Guatemalan ambassador was traveling crushes six people; a woman dies

MEXICO CITY.- The driver of Nelson Olivero, Ambassador of Guatemala in Mexico, ran over with a car that carried diplomatic plates to a woman who died and five other passers-by on the streets of the Nonoalco neighborhood, Mayor Benito Juarez.

Due to this accident, the Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation folder against Olivero’s driver. The diplomat, who was traveling in the vehicle, was also injured and was hospitalized.

The events occurred on Avenida Revolución, at the height of a self-service store and according to eyewitness accounts, the vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed when it ran over the six people, to later hit a post.

According to different videos broadcast on social networks, the ambassador and his driver stayed inside the vehicle with plates from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and made different calls, while outside, pedestrians demanded the police their docile treatment.

“In the first place, both the Embassy and the Guatemalan Chancellery present our deepest condolences with the families of this fact. We hope that the injured have a speedy recovery, including our Ambassador, who was traveling as a passenger in the vehicle involved and who is hospitalized, “said the statement issued by the Guatemalan chancellery.
