Once the Maya Train project materializes, the flow of travelers in the Riviera Maya and Cancun, which are nowadays the largest destination of Mexican sun and beach, can change, since it seeks to distribute at least three million people. travelers per year in five states of the Mexican southeast such as: Yucatán, Campeche, Chiapas, Quintana Roo and Tabasco.

It is the hotel sector that operates under the All Inclusive concept,  who are under notice that part of their clients could go to other places in search of recreation. Mauricio Vila, governor of Yucatan, said: “Every year millions of tourists arrive to our neighboring state of Quintana Roo, and now on a comfortable train trip, with a great promotion that will surely have on the part of the federal government, we will attract (to Yucatan) to many of those tourists, who today only go to All Inclusive hotels and are staying in Quintana Roo. Now this flow can go to Yucatan. “

Meanwhile, the president of the National Conference of Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco-Servytur), José Manuel López Campos, agreed that the railway project will change the flow of travelers moving through the Yucatan peninsula. It should be noted that hotel supply is increasing in the southeast of the country, where Xcaret invested 350 million dollars in a hotel in the Riviera Maya and, this year, Grupo Posadas will execute an investment of 100 million dollars.
