The first Shake Shack store will be located in front of the roundabout of the Angel of Independence.

The American chain Shake Shack will open its doors in Paseo de Reforma, Mexico City for the summer of this year.

“The long-awaited first Shake Shack will open its doors in the heart of Mexico City. The Shack will be located on Paseo de la Reforma, in one of the corners with more affluence of the entire city, just in front of the roundabout of the Angel of Independence, “says a statement from the company.

According to the document, the construction of the first Shack began with an art project by the Mexican artist and illustrator Claudio Limón, who transformed the entrance of the place into a mural entitled: “A Happy Confluence”, which shows the happy coincidence between two metropolises that are celebrating the richest of life: eating.

“A piece based on the iconic elements of New York and Mexico City that together celebrate the arrival of Shake Shack to its new home, CDMX,” the statement said.

The chain will compete in the same market as McDonald’s, a company that, although it is a leader in the sector, has lost ground to chains such as Carl’s Jr. and Burger King.

“Mexicans will be the first Latin Americans to have a classic ShackBurger in their hands, to enjoy more than a bite of this iconic hamburger, which is considered by many to be one of the best in the world,” the company said in a statement.

Shake Shack plans to arrive in Mexico City at the hands of the Mexican company Toks, a subsidiary of Grupo Gigante.

“For years, our fans in Latin America have asked for a Shack, and we are very excited to share the news of opening our flagship restaurant in Mexico City in 2019. It is a privilege to partner with Grupo Toks, whose operational experience and experience with brands of prestige, make it the ideal partner for our foray into Mexico, “said Michael Kark, vice president of Global Licenses of Shake Shack.
