The recent modification of the bilateral air agreement between Mexico and Germany served as a framework for members of the aeronautical sector of that country to insist to the authorities of the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation (SCT) on the importance of concentrating air operations in a single airport in the Valley of Mexico.

According to information obtained by NITU.mx , some representatives of the Lufthansa airline told the holder of the SCT, Javier Jiménez Espriú, the utility of having a Hub in Mexico, as there is currently in the big cities of the world. (Mexico and Germany sign bilateral air transport agreement ).

“Although the airlines will concentrate their operations in one of the three terminals contemplated in the project (AICM, Santa Lucía or Toluca), for them it is important to be close to the allied national companies,” said the informal talk.

It is also known that this brief meeting, which was supported by the German economic authorities, was spoken on behalf of the European airlines, since it is a general request, and because of the situation, it was they who raised their voices before Jiménez Espriú, also appealing to their knowledge in the field.

“If the idea is to bring high-level travelers to spend and diversify, we must be close to Aeroméxico, Interjet, Volaris, to be able to connect with all of Mexico,” they concluded in their arguments, which the Mexican official picked up at the moment.

This is not the first time that representatives of airlines and internationals pose this scenario to the Secretary of Communications and Transport, in a relaxed but insistent tone, and waiting for some sudden turn in the decision to cancel the construction of Texcoco.
