Mexico issues warning of extreme weather and temperatures

Servicio Meteorológico Nacional, the official source of the Government of Mexico, issues the following notice: STRONG PERFORMING STORMS ARE PROVIDED ACCOMPANIED BY ELECTRICAL ACTIVITY AND POSSIBLE HAIL IN NORTHEASTERN MEXICO. For today, the cold front No. 55 will extend over the border states of northern and northeastern Mexico, will cause strong point storms accompanied by electrical activity, hail and the possible formation of whirlpools in Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas, as well as gushing winds above 50 km / h in the northeast of the country. On the other hand, a very hot environment will be maintained in a large part of the Mexican Republic, with extremely hot daytime temperatures in the Pacific coastal states, the Gulf of Mexico coast and the Yucatan Peninsula, as well as a decrease in rain potential. .

Precipitation forecast for today May 9, 2019: 

Intervals of showers with strong point storms (25 to 50 mm): 
 Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas and Chiapas. 

Intervals of showers (5.1 to 25 mm) : Chihuahua and Oaxaca. 

Isolated rains (0.1 to 5.0 mm) : San Luis Potosi, Hidalgo, Puebla, Veracruz, Campeche and Quintana Roo.

Gulf of Mexico: Partly cloudy sky during the day, an increase in afternoon clouds with heavy rains in Tamaulipas accompanied by electrical activity and possible dust or whirlwinds, as well as scattered rains in Veracruz. Very hot environment and south and southeast wind from 20 to 35 km / h, with gusts that can reach 50 km / h in Tamaulipas. 

Yucatan Peninsula:  Clear skies most of the day, with increased cloudiness in the afternoon, rain is expected in Campeche and Quintana Roo. Very hot and windy east and southeast from 10 to 25 km / h with gusts exceeding 50 km / h on the coasts of Campeche and Yucatan.
