Because in China about 50,000 people study the Spanish language, the International Service of Evaluation of the Spanish Language (SIELE) of the UNAM certifies the degree of proficiency in this language among students and foreign professionals.
In a statement, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) stressed that there is great interest in this language in that Asian nation, so that its Center for Mexican Studies in that country promotes the learning of Spanish that is already taught in 135 universities Chinese
He said that the Chinese government included Spanish as an optional foreign language (along with French, German and English) in the secondary school curriculum and in some primary schools.
The Coordinator of Linking and Communication of that headquarters, Raúl López Parra, explained that the SIELE recognizes the degree of proficiency in this language among students and foreign professionals since it is the first international digital certificate that accredits the mastery of the language from the pan-Hispanic perspective.
He indicated that this test was designed and created in 2015 jointly by the UNAM, the Cervantes Institute, and the universities of Salamanca and Buenos Aires, of Argentina, which guarantees quality standards.
“We have promoted the organization of conferences, round tables, workshops, film series and competitions. We organized the first National Short Story Contest in Spanish in China, in which 162 works from more than 40 universities were presented, “he said.
López Parra commented that the winning works will be published under the stamp of Publicaciones UNAM in a bilingual manner.
