Mazatlan: ‘What good is a nice neighborhood if we are going to live in constant stench?’

The residents of the Pino Suarez neighborhood in Mazatlan called Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel to give them a solution since they will not allow the construction of the new wastewater plant to be completed in any way.

Mazatlan, Sin.- Neighbors of the Pino Suarez neighborhood in Mazatlan, after 4 days of demonstrating in protest to stop the construction of the new wastewater plant, assured that they have not had been approached by both state and municipal authorities to solve this problem.

Antonio Bastidas, one of those who will be affected by this construction, called Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel to approach the area and reach an agreement, because when he gave the banner he said something else and now he does not want to show his face, so, Therefore, he assures that people will not allow this to continue.

The demonstrators claimed that last Tuesday they had been approached by Luis Mercado, in charge of Public Works, among other authorities who are unaware of the charge, presumably to bribe the neighbors and offer them foot of house, the construction of a recreational park, and paving of a street, but people did not accept since their children and grandchildren can not live in the midst of the plague.

At least 30 residents of the Pino Suarez neighborhood said they will remain firm until the authorities desist the construction of the new wastewater plant, as this could have fatal consequences, such as infections and even deadly diseases.
