Municipal, state, federal, Army and Navy police meet here to coordinate security actions
Mazatlan, Sinaloa .- The Municipal Police must have at least 1,500 elements, which is the right amount for security in Mazatlan, municipal president Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres acknowledged, after holding a meeting with representatives of the corporations of the three levels of government, in the facilities of the Fourth Naval Zone.
The mayor said that currently the Municipal Police has about 700 agents, an amount considered good to meet the demand of the population, but still needs to increase their number.
Unfortunately, he said, the methods for a person to enter the police are different from those of 5 years ago, so now they must be trained to be chosen and assigned to the police force.
The new personnel that enter, he assured, will be in stages, because at the end of this year it is expected that they can count on 50 elements that are currently in rigorous training.
He acknowledged that the meeting held with representatives of the Army, Navy and state and investigative police, gives certainty to the coordination they must have to deal with the criminal acts that are recorded not only in Mazatlan but throughout the state.
“It’s an itinerant meeting that is being held, now it’s up to Mazatlan and it will do much to diminish the insecurity of the entire state, specifically also of the port.”
At the meeting, he said, Sinaloa’s government secretary, Gonzalo Gómez, made it clear that Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel is very interested in Mazatlan being at peace.
Precisely, he said, the recent change of secretary of Municipal Public Security, position now held by Ramiro Lizárraga Medina, will serve to have a diagnosis that allows to request some request for support to the state government.
One of the problems with which the corporation has, he said, is the lack of vehicles, because at the beginning of the current administration sectors were detected in which only had a patrol, a motorcycle and a racer.
Last Tuesday, he said, they replaced five patrols, in addition to being able to buy another four and within two months they can acquire a lot of between 20 and 30 units.
