For the first time in history, Mexico ranked sixth in global vehicle production in 2018, according to the report of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA).
The automotive industry installed in Mexico thus went from seventh to sixth place by passing South Korea by just 100,000 units in the manufacture of light and heavy vehicles.
The Asian country went to the seventh place with four million units in 2018, while Mexico retained the same four million vehicles registered in 2017.
According to the global vehicle production index, globally in 2018, 95.4 million units were manufactured, with China holding the first place with 27.8 million units, that is, a 29.9% share.
The United States follows with 11.3 million vehicles and a global share of 11.9%; Japan with 9.7 million and 10.2% of world participation; India with 5.2 million units and 5.4%, and Germany with 5.1 million vehicles and a share also of 5.4%.
In this way, in Latin America, Mexico retains the first place in the manufacture of automotive units
