As Mexico is very safe in tourist areas and big cities, Durango continues to be one of the safest cities in the country, according to the INEGI’s Urban Security Survey, within the first quarter of 2019, where it is confirmed that citizens are increasingly confident and consider the work of the Municipal Public Security Directorate.

Oscar Galván Villarreal, municipal director of Public Safety, stressed that the behavior throughout 2018 and the first quarter of 2019, Durango is still in the first places of security, according to this measurement.

It should be noted that this time Durango appears in sixth place, out of a total of 67 cities surveyed; with the perception of lower insecurity, being 42.9%; below cities such as Saltillo, Coahuila; San Pedro Garza García; Merida Yucatan; Los Cabos; San Nicolás de los Garza and Durango.

It should be noted that San Pedro de los Garza and San Nicolás de los Garza, are together within the metropolitan area of ​​Monterrey, hence the position that Durango has, remains one of the safest in the country.

Likewise, this survey in the category of “Considers effective the performance of the Preventive Police”, in the last quarter of 2018 was 48.5% of the population that considered the work of the corporation to be effective; now for the month of March it is 52.3 percent, being an important growth.

In the same way, the trust of the citizens in the municipal police continues to be recovered; since from October to December 2018 51.6% of the population trusted their police, for this first quarter of 2019 this percentage increased to 57.5%.
