MazatlaSinaloa .- Given the growth in the arrival of tourists registered in Mazatlan in the last year, at least five hotels are being built in Mazatlan.

During 2018 Sinaloa received three million 630 thousand 505 tourists who arrived in Sinaloa, of which two million 300 thousand arrived in Mazatlan.

The Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa, Óscar Pérez Barros, revealed that 1,200 new rooms are under construction in Mazatlan, in expansion and new hotels.

GMO HOTEL

He expressed that this will help solve a part of the demand for rooms that is required during peak seasons.

Currently the destination has a 5% growth in rooms, compared to last year, and two new GMO, Marriot, Fiesta Inn, ONE and Fiesta Americana hotels are under construction.

We are in one thousand 200 rooms under construction for this year, we expect more, because we are in talks with Barceló, Meliá, Royalton and Fiesta Americana Grand, among others.

Only the new Courtyard Resort By Marriott Mazatlan hotels will have 200 rooms; in the GMO hotel that is built on Avenida Del Mar, it will have 130 rooms, the Fiesta Inn 142 and 126 of The One.

Meanwhile, the hotel Pueblo Bonito Mazatlan and Riu are currently expanding their capacity, and the Hotel Pueblo Bonito is also remodeling each of its rooms, of which 113 will be available to guests for the holiday period.

Meanwhile Grupo RIU, a Spanish company that operates a complex in Mazatlan, has decided to invest 40 million dollars in expanding its hotel in the port, with the construction of 300 new rooms, as well as diversify its offer for tourists with more restaurants, pools and Recreation areas.

“We have to continue to offer tourism in Mazatlan that is fashionable, throughout Mexico we talk about what is happening in Sinaloa and particularly in Mazatlan,” he said.

Mazatlán has 174 lodging establishments and 11,968 rooms, of which 50% are category 4 and 5 stars, in addition to 4 thousand 500 units of condominiums.
