Guanajuato Celaya overcomes CDMX, Tijuana and Acapulco in robberies

The proliferation of assaults on account holders, businesses, homes and vehicles, catapulted Celaya to the first places in the index of robberies at a national level, above locations such as CDMX and Tijuana, reveal figures of the Executive Secretariat of the System of Public security.

Only in the first two months of the year, the city of Cajuela accumulated 1,525research folders for different types of theft – trade, passerby, home-room, auto partsand vehicles – which place it in the second position among the most populated cities of the country, with a rate of 30.9 complaints per 10 thousand inhabitants.

Celaya is second only to Guadalajara , which averages 41 cases per 10,000, according to an analysis prepared by Correo, based on the number of reported crimes among the population of the cities with the greatest number of inhabitants nationwide.

The list highlights that Guanajuato capital occupies the fifth position with a rate of 15.6, more than other municipalities that face high crime rates, such as Irapuato and Salamanca; as well as cities of other entities, such as Puebla, Morelia, Veracruz, Acapulco, and even Monterrey.

At the state level, 7 thousand and 40 robberies were reported during January and February, which means that every day 119 people came to report that they were robbed of some property in their home, business or public road (on average five cases per hour).
