Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- Quirino Ordaz Coppel, governor of the state of Sinaloa, said that the CIP Playa Espíritu must be sold and that the resources that could be obtained from this failed project should be applied to an area with greater tourist potential, such as the Isla de La Piedra, in the port of Mazatlán.
The CIP Playa Espíritu , located in the coastal area of Escuinapa, which has an extensive coastline of virgin beaches and an unbeatable natural beauty, was promoted by the government of Felipe Calderón in 2009.
A large amount of federal resources has been applied for 10 years , which has allowed the construction of a hotel, drainage works, potable water, oxidation lagoons and an extension of the boardwalk.
Andrés Manuel López Obrador, president of the republic, in his visit to the south of Sinaloa, visited the surroundings of Playa Espíritu to learn about the current conditions of this project and declared publicly before dozens of attendees at the Lions Club, in the municipality of El Rosario, which analyzed the possibility of selling the CIP to the private initiative and that the resource obtained would be applied to the completion of the Santa María and Picachos dams.
In an interview, the governor said he was in favor of the CIP Playa Espíritu being sold, although he doubted that there were investors interested in acquiring this project, but added that if this sale were to materialize, the resource should be applied to a more viable tourist area, such as it is the Isla de la Piedra, in Mazatlán.
“The different alternatives of the CIP Playa Espíritu project are being analyzed. For me, the best thing is to sell. The case is that there are people interested in buying it, and in how much, because nobody will want to pay the cost of the land and what has been invested. A very competitive price must be sought, considering that the development will take.
