Hotel occupancy in Mazatlan exceeded expectations over the long weekend

The occupation reached levels above 85%

Mazatlan , Sinaloa .- The long weekend exceeded expectations, since hotels in Mazatlan had an average occupancy of over 85%.

Receptionists of hotels on Avenida Del Mar, said that some establishments registered a full house, which reactivated the rest of the activities related to the tourism sector.

They explained that for the weekend an occupancy rate of 75% had been predicted in the lodging centers, however many last-minute families arrived.

Many people arrived in Mazatlan, and they took advantage of the long weekend to enjoy a few days of rest and relaxation in this city.

The tourists who arrived at the destination were mainly from places like Chihuahua, Guadalajara, Torreón, Durango and Mexico.

Tourists reactivated the sale of handicrafts in Pino Suarez.

They commented that most of the visitors arrived in Mazatlan since Friday, and most returned to their places of origin on Sunday, however the morning of Monday there was still activity and tourist movement.

For the handicraft vendors of the José María Pino Suárez Municipal Market, the long weekend also left good results.

The tenant, Fernando Izquierdo, revealed that the sales of handicrafts and souvenirs increased up to 80%, when the estimate was 60%.

The beaches looked great with bathers.

“It was something strange commercially speaking, because this long weekend we had never registered it with so much tourism, because of the closeness it had with Carnival,” he said.

He noted that here begins the peak season of national tourism, and are expecting Holy Week where they expect an increase in sales of 100%.
