The governor said that the purchase of these lands by the federal government would have been better used to support other tourist destinations.
Sinaloa.- After the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, announced that the lands of the Integrally Planned Center of Playa Espíritu will be sold, Governor Quirino Ordaz Coppel approved that measure, as he warned that instead of that purchase, that was done during the administration of Felipe Calderón, the monies should have been spent on other established tourist destinations or to magical towns.
I have always said and I have commented, money spent should have been applied to traditional destinations, as is the case of Mazatlan. Instead of having invested in a piece of land and then having invested more than 2 billion pesos, it would have been better to invest in Mazatlan and the magical towns of Sinaloa.
Governor of Sinaloa, Quirino Ordaz Coppel.
Ordaz Coppel explained that for the project to be consolidated, there would be a lot of time and resources that are not currently available.
The president of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the governor of the state Quirino Ordaz Coppel during the tour of southern Sinaloa.
“I have no idea of the size of the money but it would be many billions of pesos, my administration has consolidated the destinations and the specific growth of Mazatlan and the Magical Towns,” he said.
The state governor reiterated that the more than two billion that the federal government invested in that project would have benefited other tourist destinations.
He said that now the auction as announced by López Obrador is a decision that the federal government will have to make, it is necessary to make a decision of what to do with that project.
“That is an alternative, because the other is that to bring European investors, but it will be very difficult for them to invest in something that is not yet developed and that there are destinations that are fully grown, such as Cancún, like Vallarta, like Los Cabos, or Mazatlan where they would invest first, “he said.
