Gicsa will invest 3 billion pesos for a new project in Cancún.

Grand Outlet (GO) Riviera Maya, which is part of the Malltertaiment, will adapt an ice rink and will house 3 hotels.

Gicsa presented its new concept of shopping center that it develops in Cancun. This is Grand Outlet (GO) Riviera Maya that will have an investment of 3 billion pesos.

Abraham Cababie, CEO of Gicsa, said that in addition to the investment of the developer, the commercial partners will contribute another 3 billion pesos in the project.

“Grand Outlet will have the best brands in the world, we know what people want because 70 percent of the Outlets in the country have been developed by us,” Cababie said during the laying of the first stone.

He added that GO is part of the Malltertaiment , which have a gastronomic and entertainment offer, but will go further by adapting attractions that are not typical of the place such as a roofed ice rink.

This mall will be between 2 and 3 times larger than the commercial plazas in the area and will compete with the largest in the country, Santa Fe Shopping Center.

With an extension of more than 250 thousand square meters (m2), it will have 90 thousand m2 of Gross Profitable Area (ABR) in which 160 commercial offers will be distributed, in addition to 16 entertainment options in a space of 40 thousand m2.

“Among the entertainment options there will be an auditorium for 7,500 people, water bodies for more than 80,000 m2, amusement park, ice rink, the world’s largest track of go karts and hot air balloon”, said the director .

Likewise, GO will house three hotels of the City Express Plus, City Express Suites and NH brands.

Cababie pointed out that the construction of the development will take approximately 18 months, so the opening will be in October 2020.

He announced that Grand Outlet will be in 2 other tourist areas of the country and one of them will be the Riviera Nayarit.

The director recalled that 2018 was a fruitful year for the firm, because they opened three Malltertaiment: La Isla Mérida, Puebla Esplanada and Paseo Queretaro.

“This will continue until 2023, with Malltertaiment in the 14 major cities of the country,” he said.

For his part, Miguel Torruco, Secretary of Tourism, said that private investment is essential for the generation of wealth and jobs, so this type of projects are required in the country.
