Los Cabos is booming. Sitting at the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula, the destination already was a favorite getaway among celebrities for the juxtaposition of the bright blue waters and the desert landscape (its proximity to L.A. also helped). Now, it’s not just stars who are escaping here — in 2017, Los Cabos saw close to 20 percent more tourists, the highest number in nearly a decade.

A slew of new hotels is coming to the Mexican paradise in the next several years, too, many from major brands.

Forbes Travel Guide turned to Grand Velas Los Cabos, which debuted in 2016, to learn more about the hot spot. Chief concierge Enrique Leal, a member of the Guild of Professional English Butlers, gave us pointers on everything from the one attraction to see to the top beaches.

What are the best things to do in Los Cabos?

Los Cabos is one destination conformed by two beautiful towns, Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. There are so many attractions, stunning blue beaches, perfect weather all year round, sophisticated accommodations, world-class night clubs, delicious gastronomy and gorgeous landscapes.

San Jose del Cabo´s downtown main plaza, and its distinctive architecture, has become an arts district where you can find art and crafts from all over the world, but mainly Mexican art and local creations.

Cabo San Lucas is a must during your stay, full of the best restaurants, stores and nightlife.

Another must-do in downtown Cabo San Lucas, is the blown glass factory, with more 25 years of experience in the manufacture of hand-blown glass.

The one thing you must do in Los Cabos is visit the Arch, a natural rock formation that stands astride where the Pacific Ocean meets the Gulf of Baja California.
