MAZATLÁN.- “The puppets are very ugly, they were not creative this year in Carnival,” said some Mazatlecos, in a survey about their design, echoing other negative comments made on social networks.
After the strong criticism that the Carnival 2019 puppets have received in social networks, where some point out that they look like comics or Halloween characters, a survey was made of some people in the streets of Mazatlan.
“Oh no, that scarecrow that is there, we are not on Halloween,” said a local.
“The monkey in yellow found him more like Goku, nothing to see (with Carnival),” said Juan “N”, a high school student.
Some assured that the design of the puppets is not appropriate to the theme of the Carnival called “Equinox”, which departs from the theme that this year addresses the Carnival.
Other comments were like “they did not have creativity”, “remove them”, “I did not like them”, among others.
Also some tourists commented similar to the Mazatlecos, that they were scared to see “the scarecrow” in the Malecón.
Despite not liking it, the mayor clarified that its design and form are right, as they are in line with the theme of this year’s Carnival
The monigotes are also ugly to me, acknowledged the municipal president, Luis Guillermo Benítez Torres.
But he stressed that their design and form are linked to the theme of the Mazatlan Carnival 2019: Equinox, the rebirth of the senses.
He said that they will be luminous. The mayor said that the Carnival is like that, there are criticisms for and against.
