The capital of Monterrey will be the first city in the country and the continent where this service will be provided.

MONTERREY, NL; The Uber transport company announced its new truck system in Monterrey, which will be called Uber Van, the capital of Monterrey being the first city in the country and the continent where it will provide this service.

The system operates through the UberPool mode, except that instead of the vehicle being a simple car it will now be a Van, whose routes will be programmed through an algorithm that indicates traffic flows, according to the schedule.

This service arrives in a city where the issue of public transport is important, due to the amount of population and services they serve.

“Users are not going to wait more than five minutes, then find out where they should walk to find the truck. We will arrive at no more than one km and we will check in with a qr code and start the trip to the destination, “said Roberto Fernández del Castillo,  director of new mobility products Uber América Latina.

During a test at the facilities of the Fundidora Park of this city, we could see that the units have 12 seats plus that of the driver and co-pilot. In this video we show you some details of the interior of the vehicle:

“Monterrey has been a city that has many traffic problems. There are many cars, and they all bring only one or two people. There are 2.1 million cars in the city every day, “Fernandez said.

The executive said that this city was chosen because it is one of the most active economies not only in the country but also in Latin America.

Fernandez del Castillo said that at this stage will be available in this city with the plan to reach other cities.

“It’s based on Uber Pool technology, it does practically the same thing on a larger scale. It has the potential to replace up to 13 vehicles moving in the same direction at the same time. The cost can be up to 85% cheaper than Uber X. “

On this point, the manager said that the average cost with which this service will start will be 20 pesos.

According to figures from the company that started operations in Mexico in 2013, it is already present in 44 cities in 23 states, with products like uberPOOL, uberASSIST, uberX, uberXL, UberBlack, UberSUV and uberPET.

A few months ago, the company launched Uber, m.uber.com and Uber Lite in Mexico City , with which it hopes to reach more vulnerable users and groups that can not access certain technologies or devices.

Similarly in December, Uber in conjunction with the Tec de Monterrey and the Universidad TECmilenio launched its platform called Pool Tec, in a pilot phase where the main benefit for users of the community of these schools is that the rate ranged from one 30 and 50% lower than the services of Uber Pool and Uber X.
