Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- When detecting cyber scammers, the Tourist Care and ProtectionCenter ( Capta ) applies prevention measures to travelers, so that they stay correctly and in certified places.

Astrid Macías Fregoso, director of Capta Mazatlán, mentioned that they are developing an investigation, supported by the eight cases that have been presented in this last month.

It is very difficult to know for someone from outside who wants to rent, about whether the source is safe or not. I think the important thing is that we are detecting where they are coming from, and we can publish preventions in a direct strategy.

They are Canadians and Americans, who have been more victims of scams, when accustomed to pay their lodging rents in advance.

It is by means of references or by the publicity, that occurs in an uncontrolled way in social networks the offer of stays in thousands of pesos.

There has been the case of other places where they rent, through Facebook and Instagram, properties that are not true.

The complaints must be heard before the corresponding authority, in the Public Tourist Ministry, where tourists are kept informed of these processes that have not been resolved.

It will be through a thematic and citizen forum, where the Municipal Development Plan will be integrated, with the intention of directing measures that can be carried out to care for the visitor.

“We are meeting with experts in the field, we are going to discuss the issue in a round table and we are going to talk about it, in order to be able to support it when sitting down to regulate this business,” he said.

Tentatively the forum will be held on January 31, which could be in a hotel in the town with the authorities, to later make another citizen forum.
