The idea is not to prohibit entry to Plazuela Machado, but, rather, to reduce demand. Óscar Blancarte Pimentel, director of the municipal office, mentioned Plazuela Hidalgo, better known as Plazuela de Los Leones, and Plazuela Zaragoza, as alternatives.

– The Plazuela Machado area in recent years has become very congested, is there any alternative or something you have thought of, have you seen it?

“We are looking at the logistics to open other pedestrian zones so that people can recover the spaces they once had. We are looking at that logistics, “said the official.

– Some areas that would be considered?

“We are thinking about Plazuela de los Leones and we are thinking about Plazuela Zaragoza”.

In some editions of the Carnival, Civil Protection has prevented the entry to the Plazuela Machado by the high number of people in a small space.
