If the lack of gasoline continues in some states of the country, the arrival of tourists by road could be stopped.

Mazatlan, Sinaloa.- The shortage of fuels in various states of the country could affect the arrival of tourists to Mazatlan, since most arrive via highway, hoteliers and merchants pointed out.

The president of the Association of Hotels Three Islands, José Ramón Manguart Sánchez, said that almost 90% of tourists are national and arrive at the destination via road in private vehicle, passenger trucks, and charter.

The truth is that this does diminish, especially road tourism, is almost 90% of that reaches Mazatlan, and if this continues for us yes there is a direct impact.

President of the Tres Islas Hotel Association, José Ramón Manguart Sánchez.

For his part, the president of the Chamber of Commerce Services and Tourism of Mazatlan, Jesus Sandoval Gaxiola, said that although it is a season of low influx of tourism could affect those who come for the weekend.

“There is a lot of road tourism that comes to Mazatlan on weekends, many times it is believed that throughout the Republic is running out of gasoline shortage, and yes could stop coming many people,” he said.

In addition, he added that although Mazatlan does not record shortages of gasoline, if this lasts a week, they will begin to have problems in some turns.

Sandoval Gaxiola added that the goods that are brought from the south of the country are fruits, footwear, clothes, vehicles, among others.

The leader of the merchants clarified that they agree with the federal government, in the fight against the theft of gasoline, but not in the strategy used.
